The set consists of a glass bottle and the original Chanel No 5 cardboard perfume box. The bottle is made of crystal glass, in the form of a flattened rectangular decanter, with a bevelled crystal stopper.
Ferdynand Olesiński received the second competition prize of 20 guilders in 1875, awarded by the management of the Society of Friends of Fine Arts for a perspective drawing. Olesiński then made a pencil sketch depicting the cloisters at the Franciscan church in Kraków. Perspective drawing was one of the subjects taught at the second branch of the School of Fine Arts in Kraków. The students also learned drawing still life, copying and drawing head contours.
The portrait of Teofil Trzciński (1878—1952), a theatrical director, director of the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre in Kraków in 1918—1926 and 1929—1932, was painted by Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (Witkacy) in 1920. It is one of three portraits of Trzciński painted by Witkacy at that time. Witkacy (1885—1935) was one of the greatest Polish artists: a painter, draughtsman, photographer, playwright, novelist, philosopher, theoretician and art critic as well as the author of the Theory of Pure Form.
This exhibit features ID card no. 84 with the legendary 7 badge. It is associated with a Fighter Squadron (the so-called Kościuszko Squadron) fighting in defence of the Polish Borderlands in 1920. The exhibited Krakow-style nativity scene was made by the inhabitants of Dobczyce and donated to the Regional Museum in Dobczyce by the local firefighters.
The work is a photographic documentation of a performance carried out by the artist in 1971. Fifteen prints, arranged in five rows, three in a row, step by step present actions involving a single paving stone. The work, with its roots in conceptualism, also has feminist and political connotations.
This painting represents the Zalipie culture which is closely connected with the Dąbrowa district. The fact that it was painted by Felicja Curyłowa, one of the most talented artists from Zalipie, makes this exhibit even more valuable. Enjoying great authority and endowed with organisational skills, being conscious of the value of local decorative traditions, Curyłowa made Powiśle famous not only in Poland but also outside the borders of the country.
The perfume bottle has the form of a cuboidal decanter with a thick neck and a glass stopper. It is made of colourless glass. The stopper is cut in a flower shape. Inside the bottle, there is a dried flower. At the base of the front side – a triangular label with the inscription: “Millana / woda kwiatowa / MILANÓWEK.”
The tin bottle with a cap was designed for storing talc for men. The tall vessel with an oval cross-section is decorated with a pattern composed of yellow-green vertical stripes. In the centre of the front side, there is a black cartouche with a green frame.
The set consists of a crystal perfume bottle with a stopper and a cardboard case. The bottle comes in the form of a bulky decanter similar in shape to to a rectangular prism, with volutes facing downwards at its neck. The stopper is polished, in the shape of a leaf, a spade from a pack of playing cards. A round paper label with the name “MITSOJKO” is set on one of the sides of the bottle, against the background formed by an ornamentation composed of a pattern of red floral tendrils.
The series of photographs is a record of one of numerous actions that the two artists carried out in their own flat. It took place in August 1975, with the participation of Przemysław Kwiek’s sister Zofia Kulik and the artists’ son – Maksymilian Dobromierz. A cardboard tube was the centre of the action. It had been made to order as an advertising prop; after the action it went to the client.
Music, punk culture, and art are among the interests of Konrad Smoleński, in which the experience of sound occupies a special place. The audio-performances implemented by him, jointly with Daniel Szwed, take the form of an anarchic bombardment of intense sound. The attack is carried out by BNNT: masked artists arriving in a black van whose image is associated with terrorists.
Made of colourless glass, the perfume bottle has the surprising shape of a castle. The stopper, made of gilded glass, constitutes its roof. The style of the castle’s architectural form is the so-called French costume – a neo-Renaissance style with elements of Baroque, characteristic of the 2nd half of the 19th century.
This invaluable drawing presents the scene: “Properly handling the invention of Mr. Daguerre: the military way” of the first act of the work, Wielopole, Wielopole, directed by Tadeusz Kantor. The drawing has watermarks. The composition was made with ink and pencil and placed in a black cardboard passe-partout. The outline of the female photographer is marked in black ink. The woman is absorbed in the action of photographing/shooting.
The crystal bottle takes the form of a decanter similar to a cuboid in shape, with a neck featuring a wide flange and a glass stopper. The crystal knob-shaped stopper is cut into in a bevelled pattern. Its rim, made from a gilded mass and featuring a carmine ribbon, is decorated with a gilded ornament.
This mock-up is one of the most valuable objects in the collections of HMK, related to the scenographic activity of Stanisław Wyspiański. As an experienced theatre practitioner and stage director of his dramas, Wyspiański made scenography sketches, decorations, and costume designs, as well as mock-ups.
