A helmet created from overlapping circular scales ornamented with rosettes, riveted down to a leather base. On the top, there is a multi-leaf medallion topped with a high tip. The hatband consisting of a few belts of metal sheet is ornamented with a turban made of raspberry-coloured silk and trimmed with golden braid. The entire helmet was originally blackened.
There were two variants of bascinets used with scale armours: the first one had the form of a Hussar bascinet; the second one took on more oriental features, due to the application of a hemispherical skull decorated with a turban of colourful fabric, despite the fact that it was an original Polish creation having no equivalent among Turkish and Persian helmets.
The presented bascinet was deposited at the Metropolitan Museum in New York during the years 1977–2000.
