more It was probably created at the turn of the 20th century. Its base rests on three lying lions. The profiled stem is finished with a figure of an eagle with outspread wings. Eight semi-circular branches are attached to the stem with clips. Candle sleeves are on the same level. Traditionally, the ninth auxiliary branch is affixed in the front, perpendicular to the line of the remaining ones. It was on the ninth branch that the so-called shamash, i.e. the ninth candle, was placed, from which the eight remaining candles were lit on the following days.
The Hanukkah lamp was purchased for the Chrzanów Museum in DESA in 1960. Unfortunately, its history remains unknown — we do not know by whom it was used during the eight-day holiday of Chanukah.
