A decorated axe with a sleeve and an eyelet, found in the 1970s on a field in Gorzyce near Żabno. The eyelet was of practical value; it was used to attach the axe to a handle, which was bent at a right angle and entered into the sleeve. The handles were made of carefully selected bent pieces of wood. A casting using a shell mould.

This artefact, which is already 3000 years old, is covered with a dark green noble patina protecting it against corrosion. The uniqueness of this find, lies in the fact that it is a Hungarian type of hatchet: similar forms occur in the region of Transylvania and Hungary, and in Poland they are imports. The function of these objects is not completely clear. It is believed that they served as weapons or tools, depending on the need and the situation, and we may assume they were equally effective in both applications.
