The presented object is a fragment of the trunk of a cycad — a fossil plant. Bennettitales (Cycadeoidopsida) is a class of extinct gymnosperms which could be found all over the world in the Mesozoic era. In Poland only several specimens of the silicified sprouts of these plants, which belong to the family of Cacadeoidaceae, are known.

Bennettitales (Cycadeoidopsida) is a class of extinct gymnosperms which could be found all over the world in the Mesozoic era. In Poland only several specimens of the silicified sprouts of these plants, which belong to the family of Cacadeoidaceae, are known.
The specimen, which can be found in the collection of the Geological Museum of the Institute of Geological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Kraków, was found in 1925 in diluvial gravel, near the town of Nisko. In 1927 it was marked as a new specimen and later described by Karol Wallisch in his publication Cycadeoidea polonica nowy gatunek z Polski. [Cycadeoidea polonica - a new species from Poland]. Rozprawy Wydziału matematyczno-przyrodniczego PAU, Kraków, 1893, vol. 67, ser. A/B.
His cuts (33 items) with a section of a flower and plant wood as well as four printing plates with illustrations for publication have been preserved.
