Shinji Ogawa (b. 1959)
Painting, drawing, video animation, installation. Visual traces of the past – old photographs, postcards, European painting, and Japanese graphics – are the starting point for his creative explorations. The artist recomposes images rooted in the cultural awareness, forcing the percipient to analyze them again. He manipulates the beholder`s perception, undercutting convictions about the existence of a single reality. His work is characterized by an unusually precise execution and the traditional use of classic media.
