Cricoteka was founded in Kraków in 1980 on Tadeusz Kantor’s initiative as a living archive of the Cricot Theatre 2. In accordance with the artist will, Cricoteca from the very beginning obtained the function of the museum, archive, gallery and research center, and at the same time was collecting unique materials documenting the activities of the Theatre and its founder. Cricoteka is currently organizing exhibitions, symposia, performances, workshops and meetings, it also publishes materials dedicated to the art of Tadeusz Kantor.
In the new building opened in 2014, two main paths of programmed activities were designed: the first one is associated with the presentation of the creative output of Tadeusz Kantor, and the second one shows the influence of his artwork on contemporary art and theater.
Those two paths will be executed throughout the complementary editions of the permanent exhibition and a program of temporary exhibitions.
The possibility to get acquainted with a wide range of information and illustrative materials related to the artwork of Tadeusz Kantor, completes the permanent exhibition in a new building. The content of the materials is based on the richness of the digitized collection of the Cricoteka Archive.
